Sadden by the end of this project: Bernie Brown
My dear Japanese Pen-pals,
I am so sadden by the message that this wonderful project is closing on October 1. For me, I have enjoyed hearing from each of you and reading about your activities, thoughts, and finding that we do have so much in common. If any of you want to continue to write to me, here is my email address: whenpigsfly1@earthlink.net (that is a one and not a lower case letter L).
Some of you have spoken of the season that is now here, Autumn. Here in Minnesota the leaves are turning many wonderful colors, red, yellow, orange, and brown. When the sun shines on them it is as though we are looking at jewels.
Autumn and Spring are my two favorite times of the year. Autumn is also a bit sad for me because it means that Winter is just around the corner. There is a period of time, after all the leaves have fallen off the trees, that everything looks so dead and depressing. But then, when the snow comes and covers the ground with a beautiful white blanket and the frost forms on the tree branches so they glisten in the sunlight. Sometimes the winter can be very harsh, but for those days, we try to remember that it cannot last forever. The four seasons are like life. Spring the birth of beauty in the new leaves, plants, flowers, and the birds that return to be heard chirping that happy sound. We also see the new born animals, ducks, and birds.
Summer is like our childhood. We are so busy spending as much time having a good time and enjoying the outdoors.
Fall is our advancing years, such as I am in now. I hope I have a very long Fall time of life.
Then there is Winter when we are having to say good bye to this world but the snow commensates for the promise of brigher things in the here after.
Today our weather was so very beautiful with the colors on the trees so pretty, the sun so very warm and we can expect a few more days just like this one. Here in Minnesota, people really make the best of a good day and as long as the sun is shining, no matter how hot or how cold it gets, they are out and about enjoying the day. Mother Nature is very creative and wonderful.
Since this is the last correspondence that I will be writing in this program, I just want to say thank you to all of you in Sendai Japan for the interest you have shown and kind and wonderful letters you have sent to us. Please, if you can, write to me through my email address.
Your Minnesota friend,
Bernie Brown
