Music talks in autumn : Reiji Imaizumi

Hi Jean,
Thank you for responding kindly to my message. I felt a sense of intimacy with you as your favor of classical musics was clearly transmitted to me. How wonderful it is the Beethoven's Archduke Trio was the tune when you met your loved husband for the first time !

I play this tune with the violin sometimes, accompanying on the CD. For this CD, A trio consisting of Vladimir Ashkenazy (Piano), Itzhak Perlman (violin), and Linn Harrell (cello) played this tune, and I get an exciting feeling everytime I play with this CD. Honestly speaking, it is hard for me to synchronize exactly with their play.

You say you had 17 boxes of 33 1/3 records in the past. I wonder how many sheets of records you had in total. 1,700 (100 in a box), or 3,400 (200 in a box) ?

I suppose you are a great lover of classical musics, and it might be quite natural for you to love classical musics since your husband was a profesional pianist. You look to be a lover of orthdox classical musics.

It is said the ultimate goal of a classical music lover is to favor the opera. Unfortunately, I have not been interested in the opera yet. As informed previously, I love very unique genre of classical musics.

Here, I let you know an astonishing coincidence I experienced. It was in the summer of 1951, when I was recuperating at house due to pleurisy. I was reading a book titled "Kreutzer Sonata" written by Aleksey K. Tolstoy, while listening to musics on the radio. Suddenly, the radio announced that the next music be "Kreutzer Sonata".

I was very surprised so as to drop the book from hands. As you may know, one of the climax of this novel is a scene of the hero's wife (violinist) practicing Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata with a young man (pianist) prior to a concert.

I had been familiar only with popular classical musics till then, and did not know existence of such a wonderful music. This unbelievable coincidence put me into the world of classical musics deeply.

I am talking a bit longer. In Japan, autumn is called "a season of the art." I am now striking the keys for this message, listening to the String Sextet No.1 composed by Johannes Brahms (famous for BGM of a French movie "Lovers").

Well, bye now all. Reiji.
