Looking at a map: Mutsumi Kobayashi

Bernie and American penpals, what's new today ?
This is Mutsumi.
Today, I took out the American map published by the RAND McNally after a long time.
My daughter bought this map in 1987 when she stayed at Weatherford (seems to be a little town) in Oklahoma for a year as an exchange student. I will use this daughter's map and Hira-san's map as something like guide maps for referencing the places we talk about in our communication exchange.
I get very surprised at the news reports on the fierce impacts of tornadoes in the U.S. I have never experienced the tornado since it is not so common in Japan meteorologically.
According to my daughter, almost all the inhabitants of Weatherford shelter in their cellars when the weather forecast predicts the tornado. Fortunately, while she was staying there, no strong tornado hit the area and the cellar was changed to the pleasant playing room.
She gets to believe that the reason why American people change clothes several times in a day is because of the big fluctuation in temperature in a day.

{ Oh God ! Just now, TV news is showing lively the fire is burning in the mountain forests in California. The reporter says that though many fire brigades coming even from other states are working hard, it seems difficult to control the fire yet. I pray to God the fire should be extinguished quickly. }

My daughter, used to be introversive, has been changed to be outgoing after experiencing 1 year's American life, and now is working in Tokyo independently. Active and open-minded American people must have helped her characteristics change positive and outgoing.
Recently, watching a documentary TV program introducing the American seniors' own efforts not to get bed-ridden, I was greatly impressed by their strong will to keep self-independency and the dignity.
I will write you again soon, Mutsumi Kobayashi.
