Digital Divide : Reiji Imaizumi

Hi everyone, this is Imaizumi. I previously introduced myself with a memory of American officer's visit to my parents' house. Now, Japan is the hottest season in the high summer, and the highest temperatures in sendai and Tokyo were reportedly 30 degree Centigrade (86 F) and 36 C (100 F) respectively. The U.S. President Clinton, left Camp David while Middle East Peace Talks, is participating the Group of Eight (G8) Summit Meeting held at Okinawa, a southern island of Japan, where Bernie had lived for 5 years.
As you know, "IT (Information technology) innovation" is one of the subjects to be discussed at the Okinawa Summit meeting. Then, the ways of bridging the gaps between rich and poor countries are likely to be discussed at the meeting. As long as my senior friends concern, nobody feels anything about advantages and disadvantages, or, happiness and unhappiness on the Digital Divide of the Internet. I am afraid to be somewhat isolated without knowing the actual phenomenon and situations. In the U.S., the Digital Divide reportedly becomes a social problem. Would you let us know if you have any examples or phenomena of the Digital Divide observed in your neighborhood ?
Waiting for your responses. Regards,
