To Japanese Pen-pals : Bernice Brown
Hello,
My name is Bernice Brown, my friends call me "Bernie". I am a 66 year old
female, now retired.
I enjoy meeting new people and corresponding with other people. When I was
in high school, in 1949, I was corresponding with a school teacher in your
country by the name of Takashi Yoshikawa. When I married and moved away from
home I lost his address and was very saddened by that.
At one time I was married to a man in the US Air Force. We traveled and
lived in Taiwan from 1959 - 1961. We also lived on Okinawa from 1965 - 1970.
While on Okinawa, I taught conversational English to a group of young people
that were in a technical school where they were learning to do various jobs
so they could either work in English speaking jobs or some were planning to
go to the United States to various universities. I also learned from them.
Now I am living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in a 12 story apartment building
for seniors, and have retired from my job as a bookkeeper for attorneys in a
small law office.
My favorite things to do is to read books, meet other people, and to cook. I
enjoy foods from all countries and want to learn to cook more of them.
In my next correspondence, I will tell you more about the area in which I
live. I hope to hear from others with some of my interests.
Sincerely,
Bernice (Bernie) Brown
